Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched a direct ballistic missile assault on American military positions across the Middle East on Tuesday evening, marking an escalation in months of proxy attacks against U.S. forces in the region.
All Iranian projectiles were intercepted by American air defense systems, according to U.S. Central Command. The strike represented the latest in a sustained campaign of Iranian-directed attacks on American military facilities and personnel operating throughout the Middle East.
The U.S. Response
Within minutes of the Iranian strikes, U.S. and Saudi Arabian fighter aircraft conducted coordinated precision strikes against Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps-controlled positions in eastern Iraq. “All Iranian ballistic missiles were successfully intercepted. Saudi Arabia’s Direct Role
Saudi Arabia’s participation in the counterstrikes signaled a fundamental shift in regional military alignment. Riyadh deployed its own fighter aircraft alongside American planes, demonstrating commitment to a functioning coalition against Iranian expansion in the Middle East.
Saudi officials determined that IRGC-directed attacks on the kingdom’s energy infrastructure constituted a direct threat requiring immediate military response. The coordination with the United States represented a departure from previous administrations’ more limited partnerships with regional allies.

American officials issued explicit warnings regarding future Iranian provocations. “One ship attack, one bridge or power plant struck, and we will respond decisively,” administration officials stated last week.
